Mo’Nique has been cast BMF season 2 on Starz.
She will play Goldie, described as “a sophisticated Atlanta strip club owner with swagger and street smarts. She forms an alliance with the Flenory brothers which will help fuel their migration from Detroit to Atlanta. A fierce protector of her dancers and the people in her world, Goldie isn’t afraid to take care of business, no matter what the cost.”
The season will also feature new recurring stars Leslie Jones, La La Anthony (upped to series regular), Kelly Hu and Christine Horn. The first season debuted as the #1 premiere on the STARZ app last year.
They join returning stars:
Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr., Da’Vinchi (The Way Back, “grown-ish”), Russell Hornsby (Fences, The Hate U Give), Michole Briana White (“Dead to Me,” She Hate Me), Myles Truitt (“Black Lightning,” “The New Edition Story”) and Steve Harris (“The Practice,” Diary of a Mad Black Woman). Snoop Dogg (Dolemite Is My Name, Soul Plane, Training Day), Arkeisha “Kash Doll” Knight, and Serayah (“Empire,” Favorite Son) star in recurring roles.
Here’s the officical ‘BMF’ description:
BMF is inspired by true legends who rose from the decaying streets of southwest Detroit in the late 1980s and gave birth to one of the most influential crime families in this country. Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory’s charismatic leadership, Terry “Southwest T” Flenory’s business acumen and the fraternal partnership’s vision beyond the drug trade and into the world of hip-hop would render the brothers iconic on a global level. Their unwavering belief in family loyalty would be the cornerstone of their partnership and the crux of their eventual estrangement. This is a story about love, kinship and capitalism in the pursuit of the American dream.
The series is executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson alongside showrunner, executive producer, writer and Detroit native Randy Huggins.
Heather Zuhlke, Anthony Wilson and Anne Clements also serve as executive producers on the sophomore season. BMF is produced through Jackson’s G-Unit Film and Television in association with Lionsgate Television for Starz..
